One day I was making an old standard chili and started adding different ingredients, and it turned out to be the best chili I had ever made!  Fortunately, I took the time to write out the ingredients.

    Ingredients

    Group I Ingredients

    2 pounds ground beef
    1 1/2 cup chopped onion
    1 cup chopped green peppers
    3 cloves garlic, finely chopped

    Group II Ingredients

1 32 ounce can tomatoes, cut up
1 32 ounce can dark red kidney beans, drained
1 16 ounce can tomato sauce
1 4 ounce can tomato paste
    1/4 cup salsa
    4 teaspoons chili powder
    1 teaspoon dried basil
    1 Tablespoon sugar
    1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
    1/4 teaspoon cumin
    1 bay leaf
    1 teaspoon salt
    1/2 teaspoon black pepper

    Instructions

    1. Place Group I ingredients in a large pot and cook over medium heat until meat is browned. Drain off fat.
    2. Stir in Group II ingredients, simmering for about 20 minutes, covered, stirring occasionally.
