A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.

    – Proverbs 16:9

Have you ever had one of those moments where you feel like your to-do list is spiraling out of control and you have no idea where your life is going? No matter how hard you try to plan your week and get all of your goals accomplished does something always manage to fall apart?

I can relate because I have that moment once every week! While I try to laugh it off at times and remember that I am only human, there are weeks when I start to feel extremely overwhelmed about the direction of my life. It seems that I can never keep everything together.

My thoughts start to produce all the possible negative scenarios that can occur and I end up feeling anxious and stressed.

    Reality Check

Sometimes all it takes to get you back in the right mindset is a reality check from God. This morning I felt like I couldn’t go on with my day until I had everything figured out. Suddenly, I felt like God was tugging at my heart; almost as if he was saying “just seek me and trust me.” At that moment, I opened up to the verse of the day on my phone’s bible app and I was taken aback.

The verse read: “A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.”

It almost brought tears to my eyes because I realized that I was overwhelmed when I didn’t need to be at all.

Regardless of how much you try to arrange everything in your life, God is the head-master. He will always be ten steps ahead of you; directing all of your steps.

God uses those moments when you feel like you cannot go on to show you that He is in control. Your future will never be a mystery to him.

The reason that we tend to feel burdened by our lives and our futures is because we try to take everything into our hands and do not like feeling as if there is uncertainty. We compare our lives to others’ lives and choose to dwell on the thoughts that try to tell us we will never be where were supposed to be.

The truth is, YOU ARE RIGHT WHERE GOD WANTS YOU TO BE!

Even at the lowest points in your life when you feel like God cannot possibly be using you, you have no idea what He has in store.

As 1 Corinthians 2:9 says, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no heart has imagined, the things God has prepared for those who love him.”

    Trust

God knows what is best for you and wants to bless you if you just continue to trust and seek him.

If we had things our way, our lives would be a disaster.

Sometimes I have looked back at things that I wanted in my life, or plans that I was trying to organize and realized that if things had worked out the way I wanted in that moment, my life would be a mess right now.

So every time that you start to feel like taking everything into your own hands, remember that there is no need to try and rush ahead of God’s plans!

If you put God first, you can rest assure that your life is exactly how its supposed to be in this very moment.

I pray that you will find peace today in knowing that God is in control.
