Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her 91st birthday this year. She has reigned in Britain for nearly 65 years.

As the longest-lived monarch in British history, Her Majesty has shown glimpses of her Christian faith. It’s rare for English royalty to talk about their faith, but the Queen is not one to shy away from acknowledging that her belief in God is her source of strength, Royal Central reports.

A pound coin in the United Kingdom bears and image of Queen Elizabeth II’s head. Surrounding this image are the words: ‘ELIZABETH II D.G.REG.F.D.’ which means ‘Elizabeth II Dei Gratia Regina Fidei Defensor’ in Latin. In English, the transcription means ‘Elizabeth II, by the Grace of God, Queen, Defender of the Faith.’

The Supreme Governor of The Church of England elaborated on how Jesus lived a life of humility and obscurity. “Billions of people now follow his teaching and find in him the guiding light for their lives.”

It says in her own title that the Queen is the defender of faith—and her faith is Christianity.

During her annual Christmas Broadcasts, Her Majesty shows how faith is the most important aspect of her life.

CNS News reports that in her 2016 videotaped holiday message, Queen Elizabeth said, “At Christmas, our attention is drawn to the birth of a baby some 2,000 years ago. It was the humblest of beginnings, and his parents, Joseph and Mary, did not think they were important.”

The Supreme Governor of The Church of England elaborated on how Jesus lived a life of humility and obscurity. “Billions of people now follow his teaching and find in him the guiding light for their lives.”

“I am one of them because Christ’s example helps me see the value of doing small things with great love, whoever does them and whatever they themselves believe,” Her Majesty added.

In the book written in tribute to her entitled, “The Servant Queen and the King She Serves,” the Queen wrote in a foreword, “I have been – and remain – very grateful to you for your prayers and to God for his steadfast love. I have indeed seen his faithfulness,” CBN News reports.

Queen Elizabeth II openly talks about her Christian beliefs while advocating tolerance and understanding of other faiths.
